Forecast Font – A Web-Font For Weather Icons

Forecast Font is a lovely web-font for using any weather-related icons on our web pages as fonts. The font is pretty awesome as it consists of items that are multi-layered and this provides a huge margin for customization.

It was created to enable you to have more control over the look and feel of the icons, rather than only having a single colour or style. Flat, single-colour icons might be what your after and thats cool but with Forecast font you have all the flexibility to colour, style or even animate various parts of the icons. Create something a little different from the norm. Even better they are fully scalable for use on all devices, no need to create cumbersome image sprites or use multiple images to create your weather icons.

BLOKK – A Free Font For Mock-Ups

Lorem Ipsum is the most standard placeholder text used in mock-ups and wireframes. It helps to not distract the user with content but focus more on the design and/or layout.

BLOKK Font

BLOKK, which comes as a font, is a nice alternative to Lorem Ipsum. It has no letters but generates (colored) blocks instead.

Such blocks definitely helps concentrating on the layout more and makes more sense for websites with non-Latin characters.

Generate Custom Icon Fonts From Command Line with Font Custom

There are very nice icon fonts out there, both free or paid, and they provide flexibility in several ways compared to using standard icons.

However, a major drawback is that icon fonts usually come as a single font file where we need to load the whole file to use few items.

Font Custom

You’ll remember Fontello that allows us to create custom icon fonts via a web interface. Font Custom, an open source tool, is a command line alternative for it.

Simply target the folder that has your SVG or EPS icons and it’ll generate the fonts. Also, it’ll keep watching the folder in case you make any changes to the icons and will always keep the fonts up-to-date.

Notes: The rules in the CSS generated are named similar to Twitter Bootstrap which is nice for the fans of the framework.
